Honda is a car company built around innovation and reliability. You might remember Honda’s famous advert – ‘The Cog’ – which embedded that sense of sure-footedness about its cars. In fact, the tagline ‘isn’t it nice when things just work’ came to sum up the brand for many years to come.
That idea of solid dependability has filtered through to Honda’s latest cars too. It’s got a wide range of vehicles from compact city cars right the way through to chunky SUVs, but they’ve all got that same feeling of reassuring reliability. But alongside this has come some very clever new technology and a range of innovations designed to make driving easier and more user-friendly.
On an electric front, Honda has stated that it plans to sell only electric vehicles in all its ‘major markets’ by 2040, while it has already pledged to launch 30 electric vehicles by 2030. It does show that Honda, just like other car markers, definitely has its focus on electrified vehicles. Outside of its pure electric models, it has already included a number of electrified hybrid powertrains across its line-up of vehicles, bringing lower emissions and better fuel economy in the process.
Each new Honda comes with a three-year warranty from the start date listed on a vehicle’s warranty certificate. The exhaust system is covered for corrosion for five years, while surface corrosion on the paint is covered for three years. Any structural corrosion? That’s covered for 12 years too. When it comes to electric vehicles, the batteries are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
You’ll get a year’s worth of breakdown cover on a new Honda vehicle, too,

Honda’s key selling points have always revolved around trustworthiness and reliability. On top of this, its cars have always had some very practical innovations. The Jazz, for instance, had its clever ‘Magic Seats’ which folded up and away, providing a tall but very usable storage area where you could place items that you wouldn’t expect to fit in a car of that size.
Cars like the Civic, which has entered its fifth generation, have also proven that Honda has real staying power, providing mobility to generations over the decades. At present, Honda is leaning more on the eco-conscious side of things. It’s why you’ll find a number of its vehicles powered by hybrid setups, helping to make driving greener and more efficient.
But that doesn’t mean Honda has lost its fun side. The electric e is packed full of character, while the return of its famous Civic Type R has shown Honda’s performance side in full swing. If you’re after a car that’ll both impress in terms of build quality and materials, but still feel like it’s got a bit of personality to offer, then Honda’s range will likely be right on the money.
Honda’s current crop of electric vehicle offerings centres around the e. It’s a compact city car which, from the outside at least, looks like it’s been designed with particularly retro inspiration. Its cutesy headlights and dinky proportions make it look almost human-like, but these tiny dimensions mean it’s great for city drivers who may be parking in tight spaces, or owners who want to keep it in a garage.
However, while its exterior might be influenced by the old school, it’s anything but inside. It’s got two 12.3-inch LCD touchscreens to create one widescreen setup, but you can tailor all of the displays and features as much as you would on a smartphone. You can even set it to display an aquarium scene for a more relaxing feel.
Advance models also get a clever Side Camera Mirror System which replaces the conventional wing mirrors with cameras. These then project a picture onto screens positioned where your eyes naturally fall, providing a really clear look behind you. They’ve also been designed to avoid water droplets so you’ve always got good sightlines.
The e comes with a 137-mile range, too, while its 35.5kWh battery can be charged to 80 per cent in as little as 31 minutes when you’ve got the car hooked up to a rapid charger.
