Why choose Skoda?

Skoda has an enviable reputation for brand loyalty, and it sees customers coming back time and time again. Ever since Volkswagen bought Skoda in the 1990s, it has gone from strength to strength and now has a fantastic line-up of models, all of which are highly recommended.

It was relatively late to the electric car party, with its first EV being the Citigo-e iV – an electric version of the brand’s smart city car, boasting a low price and a 160-mile range. It was quite short-lived, but Skoda soon followed it up with its first bespoke electric car – the Enyaq iV.

Built around the Volkswagen Group’s bespoke EV platform, known as MEB, this is a practical, comfortable and stylish electric SUV that fulfils the excellent day-to-day usability that Skoda is renowned for. Skoda has followed it up with sportier vRS versions, as well as a more stylish ‘Coupe’ model.

What is the warranty and breakdown cover like on a Skoda? What does it cover?

Skodas have a good reputation when it comes to dependability, but the firm backs it up by offering a new car warranty lasting three years or 60,000 miles, depending on which comes sooner. There’s no mileage limit in those first two years, either.

The battery on electric Skoda models is also covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, with the firm promising repairs or a replacement battery if it doesn’t retain 70 per cent capacity in that time.

All hybrid and electric Skoda models also come with three years of free roadside assistance, should you have any hiccups while out and about on the roads.

What are the key selling points for Skoda?

Skoda models are renowned for their practicality and suitability for families and those needing plenty of versatility, and regardless of which model you go for, this is guaranteed. But Skoda has also managed to offer lots of trademark ‘Simply Clever’ touches. Elements like a clip on the windscreen for parking tickets and storage hooks in the boot, as well as an ice scraper are all touches that help to make everyday life that little bit easier, and Skoda is brilliant at doing just that.

Its range of cars are also renowned for their spaciousness, whether you’re choosing a Fabia supermini or seven-seat Kodiaq SUV. But the electric Enyaq is especially useful with a huge boot and vast amounts of rear space for passengers. In these respects, it sits above nearly all its rivals.

Skoda’s models are also renowned for their great value for money, and it’s great to see that trait being carried through to the electric age. The Enyaq is a large and spacious SUV, but with a price more in-line with hatchbacks. All models come with loads of standard equipment too, including 10-inch alloy wheels, a reversing camera and 13-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone mirroring and satellite navigation.

Electric car model highlights. What’s in the Skoda range and what’s popular?

Skoda offers two current EVs in its current line-up, with the highlights of each as follows.

Enyaq iV

If there is an electric car that can do it all, it’s the Skoda Enyaq iV. This practical SUV manages to offer more space than virtually all its rivals, while still managing to wrap this versatility in a smart and eye-catching design, especially in the case of SportLine Plus derivatives.

Skoda offers a choice of two derivatives – the ‘60’ and ‘80’, which offer impressive claimed ranges up to 246 miles and 339 miles respectively, while an 80 per cent rapid charge is able to take place in as little as 29 minutes.

Enyaq Coupe iV

Skoda has recently expanded its Enyaq iV range to include a ‘Coupe’ model. Designed to appeal to the growing number of buyers looking for sleeker-styled SUVs. With a tapered roofline, it offers a more dramatic and eye-catching look than its SUV sibling, too.

But despite the sloping rear, it still offers an impressive amount of interior space, with plenty of rear-seat room for passengers, while the boot is only marginally smaller too. Standard features also include a premium panoramic glass roof.

The Coupe is only available with the larger battery, and thanks to the sleeker design, is able to travel slightly further to a charge than the SUV, offering up to a claimed 345 miles from a charge.
