Audi has seriously ramped up its electric car intent in recent years. Of course, it’s a company backed by decades of heritage, but how do you translate all that prestige into an electrified age? Well, in typical Audi fashion, you do it by creating cars which feel high quality first and foremost but have that efficient electric powertrain in the background too. Plus, there are loads of innovations - such as Audi’s great Virtual Cockpit display setup - which make these models feel particularly high-tech.
It now has a solid line-up of electric cars too. After kicking things off with the original e-tron, things have progressed to include the smaller Q4 e-tron SUV and the range-topping e-tron GT sports car. It’s worth remembering too that the original e-tron has recently switched to be called the ‘Q8 e-tron’, which brings it closer into line with the rest of Audi’s electric range.
Audi offers a good level of warranty cover with its new cars. All models are covered in terms of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of up to three years or 60,000 miles - whichever occurs first. This is the same with all Audi vehicles, be they electric, petrol, diesel or hybrid.
When it comes to the electric vehicles, however, they get slightly different cover for the batteries. The batteries in Audi’s EVs are warranted against all defects in materials and workmanship for eight years or up to 100,000 miles, again whichever comes first. Electric vehicle batteries are also covered when it comes to degradation. So if a battery’s energy content is found to be less than 70 per cent during that warranty period, it will be repaired or replaced.
All Audi models are covered by three years of roadside assistance as well and, if it’s coming to an end, can be extended for £99 a year.

One of the core reasons why people come back to Audi time and time again is quality. This is present in the latest electric vehicles, too, with high-quality materials used throughout the cabin. You also get a great level of fit-and-finish so that everything feels as though it’ll stand up to the test of time. Particularly in the case of the Q4 e-tron, you’re also getting a good level of practicality, with the rear seats offering loads of headroom and stretch-out space for passengers.
Audi’s electric cars also have some of the latest electric technology available on the market today, enabling a range of up to 343 miles in models like the Q8 e-tron. You’ve then got high-performance models like the Audi RS e-tron GT, which is the first time that an electric model has featured the famous ‘RS’ badging.
As we’ve touched on before, you’re also getting a whole lot of history when you purchase an Audi. Those famous four rings have appeared on some of the most iconic cars of all time, so you get a little slice of that heritage whenever you step in or out of a brand new model.
The Audi range of electric vehicles is largely centred around SUVs, bringing added versatility and practicality.
Things kick off with the Q4 e-tron. It’s a compact SUV, so it’s a little easier to park and position than some of the larger models in the range, but it’s still got the same comfortable cabin and plentiful tech that you’d expect from an Audi. You can get up to 321 miles of range in certain models, while Audi’s clever quattro all-wheel-drive system is available on the Q4 too. Plus, there’s the option of a more coupe-inspired ‘Sportback’ version of the Q4 which not only brings more dramatic looks but improves the range courtesy of more aerodynamic touches.
Up next, we’ve got the newly named Q8 e-tron. It’s the largest electric SUV that Audi currently offers and, like the Q4, is available in both SUV and Sportback layouts, with the latter bringing the most range - up to 343 miles, in fact. It’s got loads of space inside, with room for five people to get comfortable and enjoy the ride. There’s also a more performance-focused SQ8 e-tron, which will manage the 0-60mph sprint in just 4.3 seconds.
Finally, at the top of the range, we have the e-tron GT. As Audi’s flagship EV it’s got loads of features and technology, but it can also deliver up to 297 miles of electric range from a single charge. Racing from 0-60mph in just under four seconds the e-tron GT is fearsomely fast - and the powerful RS version even more so - but it’s also incredibly comfortable and a great place to spend long journeys.
