Think of Fiat and what do you picture? We’re guessing that you imagine compact city cars, or the iconic 500 twisting around the streets of Florence. But Fiat has also made some pretty big moves in the commercial sector, developing a range of vans that are up to the task - be that shipping fresh vegetables in Verona or transporting fish in Billingsgate.
More recently, Fiat has combined this load-moving ability with electrification, bringing down running costs and boosting efficiency in the process. For companies looking to take a more eco-friendly approach, this is likely to be a huge hit. But Fiat has managed this without forsaking any of the spaciousness or practicality that its ‘usual’ range of vans has consistently delivered.
Able to benefit from some of the latest technology, Fiat’s commercial line-up can benefit from some of the high-end features you’d expect to find in the Italian firm’s range of passenger vehicles. It means that van owners can still get the same connectivity features and clever infotainment set-ups that you’d usually get from a standard car, but integrated into a practical van layout.
Fiat has also made a firm commitment to electrification, with the Italian firm set to go electric-only by 2030. Before then, expect to see much of its range of vehicles electrified in some way, either via fully electric or hybrid powertrain setups.
Each Fiat Professional model is accompanied by a three-year or 100,000km (62,137 miles) warranty from the date of registration. The warranty covers the vehicle for any manufacturer defects, with any issue sorted free of charge using either genuine or reconditioned parts. Plus, for the duration of the warranty, you also get three years of roadside assistance provided by Fiat.
Electric models get five years of warranty, too, with five years of roadside assistance included alongside this.

Fiat’s Professional line-up revolves around models that get the job done. Bet that smaller tasks or big days behind the wheel, a solid reputation for reliability, as well as great background support, means that there’s a range of vans to rely upon. Plus, a comprehensive roadside assistance setup means that if a vehicle can’t be fixed at the roadside, Fiat will cover hotel and travel expenses while both towing and courtesy cars are there as an option.
Fiat has also really switched on to electrification. You might think that this would be adopted by its passenger car line-up first, but the Professional range has really taken to battery power. In fact, there are now three battery-powered models available, which means that there’s a size and type of van to suit all occasions. These vans also bring the added benefit of being exempt from many of the UK’s clean air zone charges - as well as London’s ULEZ - which makes them ideal for those drivers or businesses who frequently head into cities.
Thanks to some of the latest tech available in the van market, Fiat’s range of professional vehicles are also able to deliver some seriously impressive all-electric range, which makes them great for long-distance trips - not just local ones. The Fiat Ducato Electric has a really cool feature which allows its batteries to continue operating even if a module fails, ensuring that you’ll always be able to get the job done.
FIat’s range of electric vans now includes three offerings - the E-Doblo, the E-Scudo and the E-Ducato. Let’s take a look at the smaller E-Doblo first. Despite being the most compact electric van that Fiat offers, it's jam-packed with features and is accompanied by a range of up to 175 miles, yet it’ll also manage a top speed of 80mph so it’s more than capable of keeping up with motorway traffic.
Rapid charging means you could top the battery up to 80 per cent in as little as 30 minutes. Plus, a clever ‘Magic Plug’ allows you to connect powered items - such as power tools or a mini fridge - to the van and run them off the on-board power.
On to the E-Scudo and we’ve got the option of either a 50 or 70kWh battery, delivering either 142 or 205 miles of range. The latter will, naturally, be the better choice for long-distance drivers, but both of these options deliver a great amount of range. There’s loads of technology on the inside, too, including a special four-inch LCD display that shows you information about the battery, electric motors and the remaining amount of charge.
Finally, we’ve got the E-Ducato, which is available both as a regular ‘van’ and a chassis cab which makes it ideal for all manner of different jobs. There’s a 47kWh version with a range of up to 142 miles, while the 79kWh will be a great choice for those who travel further afield thanks to its 230 miles of range. The E-Ducato benefits from a special warranty, too, with the smaller battery option covered for up to 8 years or 100,000 miles and the latter for 10 years and 135,000 miles for added peace of mind.
