Range

BYD started life as a battery producer, which is why it has always had the highest level of expertise in electric vehicle powertrains. The Atto 2 uses BYD’s cutting-edge Blade battery, which is typically thinner than a conventional EV battery pack.

It helps to unlock a 267-mile range on the Atto 2, meaning that this smaller EV can go further than you might expect. It can also charge at speeds of up to 155kW, allowing for a 10 to 80 per cent top-up in around 20 minutes.

Equipment

If there’s something you can rely on with BYD, it’s standard equipment. It’s no different with the Atto 2, either, as all cars get a large 12.8-inch touchscreen as standard, running both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You also get an eight-speaker sound system and a host of USB-C charging ports so everyone aboard can keep their devices topped up.

The Atto 2 also benefits from a broad range of safety assistance features, including lane keep assistance, intelligent speed limit control and rear collision alert, to name just a few.

Space and practicality

The BYD Atto 2 is based around a practical SUV bodystyle, which means that there’s plenty of space inside. The boxy design means that there’s plenty of head and legroom, and even taller passengers should be able to get comfortable.

There’s a healthy 400-litre boot to use, too, and you can fold down the rear seats to expand that space further should you want.
