Genesis is a car company on the up. It’s a real newcomer to the UK’s car market, but it’s no stranger to the more global audience, having seen massive success in the US with its range of luxurious SUVs. On these shores, Genesis is taking a similarly opulent approach, but combined with usable performance and clever ergonomics – not to mention styling that really helps Genesis cars to stand out.
Leveraging its learnings from the rest of the world, Genesis has arrived in the UK with a strong line-up of cars. But it hasn’t stopped there, quickly developing a new model – the G70 Shooting Brake – which has been designed specifically for Europe and its estate-loving drivers.
In terms of electrification, Genesis has already gone in with both feet. Even before it arrived in the UK it had announced plans to introduce a trio of new EVs, while it has already committed to selling only electric vehicles from 2025. As part of the Hyundai Motor Group, it has a wealth of technology and resources to lean upon, so Genesis is backed up by some rock-solid fundamentals.
Genesis offers one of the best warranties around. It all comes as part of the Genesis Five-Year Care Plan, which as you might expect, includes five years of warranty cover. However, servicing is also included in this and Genesis will even collect your car, have it serviced and returned directly to your door. A courtesy car can be organised, too.
All cars come with five years of complimentary roadside breakdown assistance, too. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it covers both the UK and the wider Europe area. Genesis says that if the issue can’t be resolved, then it will organise alternative options to get you where you’re going, too.

The difference with Genesis comes down to the heightened sense of luxury that you get from its cars. Across the board, these are vehicles built with high-quality materials and a level of comfort that isn’t offered by many cars. As we’ve touched upon, Genesis offers a large amount of support for owners, too, so you’ve got a safety net there at all times should something go awry.
Plus, Genesis offers a full ‘personal assistant’ service which gives a one-to-one touch. For example, if there’s a system on your new car – or a feature you can’t find – then all you need to do is get in touch with your personal assistant and they’ll be able to point you in the right direction.
Genesis has already given us some great pointers about its future too. Concept vehicles like the Genesis X have shown just what we can expect from the brand with its striking exterior detailing and clever interior. But in the real world, Genesis has also shown that it can get something very important spot-on – safety. In a recent round of Euro NCAP safety testing its GV60 electric SUV got a five-star rating, showing just how capable it is should the worst happen.
Genesis currently offers a trio of high-end EVs – the GV60, Electrified GV70 and the Electrified G80. The first of those, sitting as the firm’s core compact crossover, is particularly striking thanks to its eye-catching quad headlight design and its low grille, while a super-bright yellow exterior colour is a distinctive shade that isn’t really available anywhere else in the segment.
But looks aside, the GV60 offers a number of battery and motor setups, with the most long-legged versions able to return up to 321 miles of range. However, dual-motor versions – which do bring a slightly lower range – can manage the 0-60mph sprint in just four seconds flat.
The Electrified GV70 is there for people who need a little more space. As a mid-size SUV it’s got extra practicality to offer over the GV60, but with dual electric motors, it’s no slouch. In fact, it’s able to match the GV60’s 0-60mph time, yet can still return up to 283 miles of range. Plus, super-rapid charging means that a 10 to 80 per cent top-up could take as little as 18 minutes.
If you want to have an electrified experience in the lap of luxury, then you’ll want the Electrified G80. With 323 miles of range, it’s more than up to the challenge of long distances, while comfortable seats mean that those miles should whisk away. Plus, there’s a smart 14.5-inch infotainment screen nestled into the dashboard, while you can even get it with massaging front seats or extra touchscreens in the back.
