Why choose Jaguar?

Jaguar is a car brand at the very heart of British motoring. A time-honoured company that has produced some of the most iconic cars of the 20th century, Jaguar is a car company that is much-loved by Brits and buyers worldwide. Think of Jaguar and there’s a good chance that models like the E-Type and XK immediately spring to mind, while modern examples – like the F-Type – have shown Jaguar transferred this heritage feel to its modern cars successfully.

These days Jaguar is transitioning into an electrified firm. In fact, Jaguar has pledged to become an EV-only brand by 2025 – undercutting many of its rivals who see 2030 as the main goal – and is releasing a variety of new EVs in the run-up to that deadline. That said, its current range of vehicles remains in demand, particularly when it comes to its F- and E-Pace SUVs.

Though Jaguar’s electric car line-up might only include a single model, the I-Pace, it was one of the frontrunners of the electric segment and showed that battery power and a high-end finish could be combined successfully into one high-end creation. It still manages to deliver the same invigorating driving experience that Jaguar has become known for, too.

What is the warranty and breakdown cover like? What does it cover?

All new Jaguars come accompanied by a three-year warranty, with repairs completed by an Authorised Repairer using genuine Jaguar parts. Plus, when it runs out, there’s the option to keep things going via a Jaguar Extended Warranty which is available in a variety of timescales.

Providing your car is under warranty you’ll get roadside assistance included too. It covers both the UK and Continental Europe with a Jaguar-trained technician sent out to sort any issue at the roadside when you call. If the problem can’t be solved at the roadside, then the car will be taken to an Authorised Retailer for further inspection. If, after four hours, the problem can’t be resolved then Jaguar will organise and pay for onward travel. If you’re more than 50 miles away from your home, then Jaguar can sort hotel accommodation, too.

Plus, when it comes to the electric Jaguar I-Pace, there’s coverage for the battery lasting eight years or 100,000 miles, so there’s a good deal of peace of mind when it comes to this battery-powered model too.

What are the key selling points for Jaguar?

A big role in why people choose Jaguar is heritage. This is a car company with generations of car building experience and, as we’ve discussed, has been behind some of the most iconic cars ever made. Now, we’re not saying that you’ll get the same experience in an I-Pace as you would from the supercar XJ220, but you’ll find a little bit of that DNA trickling down into more mainstream models.

You also get a high level of quality. There are high-end materials used in Jaguar’s range of vehicles, meaning that it’ll feel special each and every time you step inside the cabin. From high-end leathers to real wood finishers, there’s a sense of quality to be found in the interiors of a Jaguar. But Jaguar is also taking an eco-focused stance on its future materials, too, which is why upcoming models will get floor mats and trims made from Econyl yarn, which is created using plastic waste taken from landfill and recovered from the ocean.

Plus, all Jaguar models are given the same sporty edge as some of its more performance-focused road cars. The I-Pace, for example, still gets well-weighted steering and agile handling, despite its electric powertrain which has more of a focus on efficiency. It means you can still make the most of your favourite roads, regardless of the powertrain you choose.

Electric Jaguar highlights? What’s in the range and what’s popular?

Jaguar’s electric car line-up currently centres around the I-Pace. It might be the brand’s sole EV, but it’s packed with features that put it among the very top electric cars currently on sale. As a large SUV, it ticks the practicality boxes from the off, with plenty of head- and legroom afforded to those sitting in the back, while those upfront get a great view of the road ahead thanks to a large windscreen. You’ve also got a very handy 656-litre boot which expands to 1,435 litres with the rear seats folded away – it’s much larger than many of the I-Pace’s rivals, in fact.

Plus, with a range of up to 292 miles, the I-Pace isn’t an EV that is restricted to local journeys, either, while a 0-60mph time of just 4.5 seconds means it doesn’t hang around off the line. Connect to a rapid charger and you can achieve a 0-80 per cent charge in under an hour, while a full charge via a 7kW home charger will take around 12 hours – just the right amount of time for an overnight top-up.
