If you’ve got a heavy-duty job requiring a robust transport solution, then Man has always had the right van for the occasion. The German firm cemented itself as a go-to manufacturer in the truck segment, but has also made a real niche in the van sector too.
Core to this success has been a variety of different designs and sizes so that there’s a model to suit all types of drivers and occasions - but they’re all tied together with the same robustness and strength that means they’re up to the job of more intense tasks as well as ‘usual’ ones. Businesses need to trust the vans that they use, of course, and Man’s reliability has ensured that companies the world over have been able to put their faith in their vehicles.
Man has also made some serious commitments to electrification. In fact, it already plans to mass-produce heavy electric trucks from 2024, with prototype vehicles from the firm showing just what the future holds.
It has already invested 100 million euros into large-scale battery production over the next five years, too, enabling the firm to start creating next-generation powertrains without delay. That said, it has also started electrifying its current fleet of vans, meaning that buyers who want to make the switch to a battery-powered model today have got an option.
Man offers a variety of flexible warranty setups, with extended warranties now available for up to 60 months or a total mileage of 250,000 kilometres (155,342 miles). Plus, Man has service outlets up and down the country which are open six days a week, ensuring that you can get back on the road in no time at all should an issue crop up.
It has continued to open sites across the country in recent years, ensuring that there’s always a service centre nearby. This comes from the firm’s reputation for being able to service its trucks wherever and whenever. The same warranty conditions apply to its electric vans, too.
A range of breakdown solutions is available via Man, too, enabling you to get back on the road whenever you need.

You’ll no doubt know Man for its range of trucks. Models like the Man TGC and TGS are consistent sights on Europe’s key networks, helping to transport a lot of heavyweight goods across the continent and beyond. Man has filtered some of its no-nonsense approach into its vans, too, ensuring that drivers can keep on the move no matter the situation.
Plus, because of its business-focused approach, Man has always been able to offer a variety of tailored solutions to issues such as repair and maintenance to ensure that each business gets a plan that is right for them.
It also has a great range of vans available in a variety of sizes and lengths, too. Plus, with crew and chassis cab options out there, you’ve got solutions if you’re looking to carry goods or people.
Man’s electric van presence currently centres around a single model - the ETGE. With a range of up to 80 miles, it’s a great option for driving around towns or cities, while its fully electric motor requires a lot less servicing and upkeep than a traditional petrol or diesel engine.
It’s also available in a variety of different layouts, including panel, combi, tipper, box or platform so there’s an option for all sorts of applications. Man also states that the total cost of ownership for the ETGE is equivalent to that of a diesel-powered model over a four-year period, so there aren’t any financial downsides to opting for an electric version.
Inside, there’s a clever central colour display with all of your key information relayed right in front of you, while voice commands mean you don’t even have to press any buttons.
Man states that a full charge will take less than five and a half hours when you plug the van into a 7.2kW home wallbox, while an 80 per cent charge will take as little as 45 minutes when you’re hooked up to a rapid charger. When you’re all topped up, there’s a healthy 290Nm of torque which means you’ve got plenty of ‘go’ for nipping in and out of traffic or merging onto quicker sections of road. Clever regenerative braking means that the batteries are topped up with the energy usually lost when slowing down, too, which helps to drip-feed range as you’re driving normally.
There’s no drawback to the electric setup, either, with the ETGE able to offer the same capacity as its diesel-powered counterpart. Plus, there are loads of accessories to choose from to suit any job, such as additional cladding, tie-down rails and fitted shelving systems. All versions get LED lighting for the loading bay, too.
