Why choose Ford?

Ford is one of the best-known names in the business. Often seen as the creators of the modern-day, mass-produced vehicle, the Blue Oval’s presence is felt the world over. With this all-spanning reputation comes a real sense of familiarity – if you’ve not owned a Ford yourself, there’s an almost certain chance that you know someone who will have. Cars like the Cortina and Capri strike joy into the hearts of many classic Ford enthusiasts, while more modern cars like the Puma and Mach-e have shown Ford in an entirely new light.

And it’s this changing line-up which has shown Ford at its very best. Particularly in the case of the Mustang Mach-e – Ford’s latest electric vehicle – there’s a sense that it’s a real changeover period for the American manufacturer. In fact, Ford has already committed to selling only battery-powered models in Europe by 2030, while its hugely popular range of light commercial vehicles, including the famous Transit – will be fully electric by 2035, too. It’s a whole new age for Ford – so it’s a great time to get on board and enjoy the ride.

What is the Ford warranty and breakdown cover like? What does it cover?

Ford includes a full three-year or 60,000-mile warranty with any new model. It covers faults caused by manufacturing defects and any issue will be replaced with genuine Ford parts. Plus, there’s added protection for the paint surface with warranties against corrosion.

Each new car also comes with a year’s Ford Assistance breakdown cover to give you added peace of mind should you have a mechanical issue. It’s not just applicable to the UK, either, as Ford will help you out anywhere in Europe should a technical problem arise. Plus, if you have your scheduled service at a participating Ford dealer it’ll be extended for another year, or until the next scheduled service.

As is the case with other manufacturers, Ford covers its electric vehicles with an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty to ensure that you’re covered should anything arise with your electric Ford model.

What are the key selling points for Ford?

Ford’s appeal has always been its ability to create value-focussed cars which don’t feel dull. This was particularly noticeable in the most recent generation of Fiesta, which was really practical, relatively inexpensive to run yet brilliant to drive – regardless of which specification you went for. More recently, the Puma has shown that you can have a small car that is also practical, with this model’s impressive ‘MegaBox’ – an extra 90-litre storage area under the boot floor – being a particularly notable innovation.

Ford’s background – which is so rooted in the very fabric of motoring – means that people know exactly what to expect. So before you’ve even headed through the doors of a dealership or clicked ‘purchase’ on an online sale, you know exactly what you’re getting.

Though it was a little slow to get going on the electric car front, Ford is now well into the swing of things – and there’s only more to come. We’ve already seen with the Mustang Mach-e that Ford can create an electric vehicle which still has that classic ‘Blue Oval’ spirit, yet while delivering the kind of electrified driving experience that buyers are after. Plus, Fords continue to have an excellent reputation for reliability, with drivers up and down the country finding their models to be long-lasting and hard-wearing.

Electric Ford highlights? What’s in the range and what’s popular?

When it comes to their passenger cars, Ford currently has just one model – the Mustang Mach-e. That Mustang name fires up images of the classic American muscle car, with this new battery-powered model proudly wearing the legendary ‘Pony’ logo in a variety of different places.

But heritage aside, the Mach-e has some razor-sharp tech on hand. Depending on which model you opt for, you could get up to 372 miles from a single charge, while rapid charging capability means that you could add up to 73 miles of range in as little as 10 minutes. There’s the option of an all-wheel-drive version which brings better capability in the wet, too. Right on the performance end of the spectrum sits the Mustang Mach-e GT, which can nail the 0-60mph sprint in 3.5 seconds – quicker than the petrol-powered Mustang GT, in fact.

Jump inside the cabin and you’ll find a huge 15.5-inch portrait-orientated touchscreen, which has the look and feel of a modern tablet. It’s running Ford’s latest Sync 4A media system, too, so you get the most up-to-date technology that Ford has to offer. Plus, connectivity to the cloud means that the Mach-e can automatically be updated over-the-air, ensuring that you’ve always got the very latest version.
