Vauxhall is a brand renowned for being British, and it remains one of only a handful of mainstream car firms that produce cars here in the UK. With 120 years of car-making history, and a very loyal customer base, the firm is now taking the bold jump into electrification.
In fact it’s going a long way to help ‘normalise’ EVs, with best-selling models like the Corsa and Mokka now available with electric powertrains, which sit alongside petrol and diesel versions. An Astra Electric is also due on sale in the near future, meaning Vauxhall is well on its way with a mission to only sell fully electric cars and vans from 2028.
While past Vauxhalls might not have been especially known for their cars’ desirability and style, that has all changed in recent years. Kickstarting with the Mokka, this brand now makes some of the most eye-catching mainstream cars around, yet still within the affordable reach of many.
New Vauxhall models are supplied with a warranty ensuring peace of mind against material and manufacturing defects for three years and 60,000 miles, whichever comes sooner. There is no mileage limit in the first year, however.
Vauxhall’s electric models also go a step further, with their batteries covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes sooner. The warranty is fully transferable too, with the firm guaranteeing at least 70 per cent capacity throughout that period.
While petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid Vauxhalls just come with a year’s free roadside assistance, you get three years of cover by choosing an electric model.

As we switch into a bold and exciting electric age, many manufacturers are brimming their EVs with complicated technologies and gadgets. But if you want something that feels a bit more normal, Vauxhall has you covered.
That’s because its EV models are currently sold alongside petrol and diesel versions, giving them an element of familiarity but with a more exciting electric powertrain. With Vauxhall already electrifying popular and well-loved nameplates like the Corsa and Mokka, and an Astra Electric on the way, it’s little wonder that the brand’s EVs are proving such a hit.
Vauxhall also now has a far wider choice of EVs than many other mainstream manufacturers, with four electric models already on the market, and several more due shortly. These are wide-ranging, too, from the compact Corsa to the Vivaro Life MPV that’s able to seat up to nine passengers.
Value also runs throughout Vauxhall’s electric line-up, with the brand ensuring EVs are accessible to everyone. The Corsa Electric is one of the more affordable battery-powered models on sale, while the Vivaro Life Electric proves that even larger EVs can still be had for a decent price.
Vauxhall currently offers four electric models in its line-up. Here are the highlights of each.
One of the UK’s most popular nameplates, Vauxhall’s latest Corsa is also available as an EV. This new generation model is far more stylish than its predecessors, while the interior gets a far more modern and premium finish than its predecessor. Offering nippy performance and a 222-mile electric range, the Corsa Electric is a car that can slot easily into day-to-day life.
The second-generation Mokka was a real turning point for Vauxhall, and helped to introduce far bolder and more distinctive styling to this firm’s line-up. Offering plenty of scope for personalisation, the Mokka is well-equipped, good to drive and roomier than the Corsa. It’s able to travel up to 209 miles on a charge as well.
Vauxhall decided to remove the petrol and diesel variants of the Combo Life from sale last year, and now it’s only available with an electric powertrain. Available in a Medium or XL bodystyle, this van-based MPV offers up to seven seats and masses of space considering its relatively small footprint Vauxhall claims a 174-mile range, while like the Corsa and Mokka, its 50kWh battery can be charged to 80 per cent capacity in just 30 minutes using a 100kW rapid charger.
At the top of Vauxhall’s current EV line-up is the Vivaro Life Electric. It’s a hugely practical model ideal for families or shuttle services, and offers seating for up to nine adults in ‘Combi’ form, while the higher-quality Design and Ultimate models get eight seats instead. Vauxhall claims up to 143 miles from a charge with this MPV.
