The best electric family cars to lease in 2026

With petrol and diesel prices continuing to soar, driving an electric car has never been so practical. If you’re able to charge up at home, then running an EV can cost a fraction of what it would be for an equivalent petrol or diesel car and, fortunately, we’ve got some of the very best electric cars available to lease here at My Electric Lease.

But with so much choice, which one should you choose? Here, we’re going to take a look at some of the top choices available here at MEL today.

Skoda Enyaq

Skoda really cracked the electric family car formula with its launch of the Enyaq. With enough space for five people to sit comfortably and a large 585-litre boot to accommodate their belongings, it’s the ideal EV for those who need space and practicality above all else.

The good news is that it’s all backed by a decent amount of range, too. Choose a model with an 85kWh battery, and you should get up to 359 miles of range. Rapid charging means that you can take the car from 10 to 80 per cent battery charge in around 28 minutes, too.

Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer

Want something a little different from your usual SUV? An electric estate car like the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer could be the answer. With its sleek proportions, it’s a real head-turner but that design also means it can offer plenty of rear-seat legroom and a spacious 605-litre boot that’ll happily accommodate all sorts of luggage. You can even add roof bars and a box for extra storage.

Its aerodynamic design helps it to cut through the air efficiently, too, and you could get up to 428 miles from a charge as a result. Expect a 10 to 80 per cent charge to take around 28 minutes when using a rapid charger, too.

Polestar 4

Polestar has made a name for itself through its elegant and fuss-free cars which get all of those classically Scandinavian touches. The Polestar 4 is a prime example of all of these traits; its lack of a rear window might seem strange, but inside it helps to create a cocoon-like feeling for those on board. Its 526-litre boot is also a handy size.

Equipped with a huge 100kWh battery, the Polestar 4 has a claimed range of up to 385 miles, which is respectable for this type of car.

DS No.8

If you’re looking to stand out from the crowd, then the DS No.8 may have already caught your eye. It rips up the design rulebook; inside, you’ll find jewel-like switches and controls, while on the outside there are all manner of neat flourishes that help to make it feel quite different to other options here.

Fortunately, the underpinnings of the No.8 are straightforward and efficient, with a range of up to 385 miles giving this left-field option plenty of distance between trips to the plug.

Volvo EX30

On the more compact end of things sits the Volvo EX30. It’s one of the smallest cars in Volvo’s range, but it punches well above its weight in terms of design and technology. It’s got a range of just over 300 miles, in fact, and a 10 to 80 per cent charge time of 28 minutes means you won’t be standing around the charger for too long.

On the outside, the EX30 has that clean, minimalist design which is so associated with Volvo’s models over the years.

Volkswagen ID.4

It’s a real one-two for Volkswagen in this list: if you don’t fancy the design of the ID.7 Tourer, then the ID.4 SUV could be for you. It’s impressively practical, too, with a 533-litre boot providing lots of storage space. Volkswagen has kitted out the interior of the ID.4 with plenty of cubbies to help keep things tidy, too.

The ID.4 actually uses the same architecture as the Skoda Enyaq, which is why its 337-mile range is relatively close to that of its electric cousin.
