These are the top hybrids available to lease today

Hybrids have soared in popularity over recent years. Bringing a healthy dose of electrification with the added safety net of a traditional combustion engine, they’re seen as a true ‘Goldilocks’ setup for many people.

There have never been so many to choose from, in fact, which is why we’ve picked out some of our favourites - and they’re all available today through My Electric Lease.

MG HS PHEV

MG HS brings together one of the best combinations of efficiency and practicality. It’s got a claimed electric-only range of up to 75 miles courtesy of a large 24.7kWh battery. It means that with a full charge, you’ll barely have to trouble the petrol engine whatsoever when doing those usual trips around town. However, the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine has enough power in its own right to keep things going when the battery is depleted.

A 530-litre boot means that the MG HS has got the practicality box ticked too, while inside there’s plenty of both legroom and headroom for everyone in the cabin.

BYD Seal 6

BYD has quickly become one of the more established brands in the world of electrified vehicles and its Seal 6 is an example of how it achieved this. It’s a practical estate car with a handy 500-litre while its 19kWh battery unlocks a 62-mile range which is one of the longest available.

As a streamlined estate, the Seal 6 provides a stylish alternative to an SUV, too.

Chery Tiggo 8

Chery’s Tiggo range keeps going from strength to strength, and one of its most accomplished models has to be the 8. It’s a true seven-seater, making it one of the most practical options on this list. With the rearmost seats folded down, you still get a useful 494-litre boot, though you can fold the second and third rows flat if you need a lot of storage space.

Thanks to an 18.4kWh battery, the Tiggo 8 can return an electric-only range of up to 56 miles, which can help to make this SUV considerably cheaper to run than your typical seven-seater.

CUPRA Formentor PHEV

While the Formentor can be specified with one of a wide number of engines, the plug-in hybrid model feels like it brings the best balance between performance and efficiency. It’s all based around a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is linked to a large 25.8kWh battery for a claimed electric-only range of 77 miles - the longest available from any car on this list.

With its stylish good looks, the Formentor PHEV takes a different stance from others here while inside, there’s a very futuristic theme which helps to make this CUPRA feel special.

Toyota Prius

You can call the Toyota Prius the ‘original’ hybrid - it was certainly the car which pushed this engine setup into the mainstream. Today, the Prius may no longer be the sole member of the hybrid club, but it still makes for an excellent choice thanks to great efficiency and quite a stylish exterior design, too.

The latest Prius gets a 52.2-mile WLTP electric range and, combined with its efficient petrol engine, means you could get up to 68.9mpg. At 36g/km, the CO2 emissions for the Prius are also impressively low.

CUPRA Terramar

We couldn’t leave CUPRA’s Terramar out - it’s one of our favourites here at My Electric Lease. Slightly larger and more practical than the Formentor, the Terramar is a great option if you’re after that edgy CUPRA design but in a bigger, more spacious model.

It’s got a great plug-in hybrid setup, too, with a 1.5-litre petrol engine being linked to a 25.8kWh battery for an electric-only range of up to 72 miles. Even with that large battery, you still get a 500-litre boot, making this ideal for families or people who need some extra space.

Think that a hybrid could work for you? We’ve got all of these cars - and more - available today at My Electric Lease. Check out our current deals today or speak to a member of the MEL team to find out more.
